Security tightened at Chandigarh bus stand as intelligence agencies warn of terror attacks


Security has been tightened at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Punjab following a terror alert sounded by the agencies. All the suspicious vehicles were checked by the Chandigarh Police.

Security has been tightened at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Punjab following a terror alert sounded by the agencies on Sunday. A specialized team has carried out search operations at the ISBT-Sector 43 and Sector 17 bus stands in Chandigarh.

All the suspicious vehicles were checked by the Chandigarh Police. Patrolling is also being carried out near bus stands.

Earlier, three accused were arrested in connection with the planting of an improvised explosive device (IED) in the vehicle of Sub-Inspector Dilbagh Singh in the Ranjit Avenue area of Amritsar last Tuesday, as per a report by News18.

Moreover, security agencies are also on high alert in view of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Mohali on August 24.
