New mid-size SUVs set to debut in India in January 2023: Hyundai Creta facelift to MG Hector facelift

The mid-size SUV segment is currently one of the hottest segments in the entire Indian market. A host of manufacturers have entered the space in the past few years, taking the competition to a whole new level, offering buyers tons of options to choose from. With the Auto Expo 2023 set to take place next month, a few car companies are expected to update their existing mid-size SUV offerings and showcase them at the country’s biggest automotive event.
Here is a list of all new mid-size SUVs that are expected to make their debut next month, i.e. January 2023 –
Hyundai Creta facelift
The Creta is one of Hyundai’s top-selling cars in India, and with the arrival some new competitors this year, the mid-size SUV throne could be under threat. That said, Hyundai is readying a mid-life facelift for the Creta, similar to what is already available in some other markets. Styling updates like the integration of the Tucson-inspired parametric jewel grille up front and separated tail lights are expected to be made. Hyundai is also expected to offer the Creta facelift with ADAS safety tech.

No changes are expected to be made to the powertrains. Hyundai will offer the Creta facelift with the same 1.5-litre NA petrol (115 PS), 1.4-litre turbo petrol (140 PS) and 1.5-litre diesel (115 PS) engine options, with both manual and automatic transmissions. While Hyundai will debut the new Creta at the Auto Expo 2023, a local Hyundai dealership exclusively revealed to us that a launch would take place in April.
Kia Seltos facelift
Just like its Hyundai cousin, the Kia Seltos is also set to receive a mid-life makeover soon, with a debut expected at the Auto Expo. The updated Kia Seltos made its global debut a few months ago, bringing visual enhancements like a slightly larger grille up front, new LED DRL placement, swanky-looking alloy wheels and a redesigned rear-end with the tail lights connected together.

The Kia Seltos too will carry over the 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel powertrains with the front-wheel drive configuration. New features on offer could include a digital instrument cluster, additional connected-car features, a larger panoramic sunroof. A launch will likely take place in the coming months.
MG Hector facelift
MG Motor India has already commenced the production of the Hector facelift as the SUV crossed the 1 lakh production mark in the country. The new MG Hector is expected to be launched in India this month, however, a specific date is yet to be confirmed.

The changes made to the SUV will include a new larger grille at the front, flanked by redesigned headlamps. At the rear, there will be a new chrome strip running across the width of the tailgate with the ‘Hector’ lettering placed under it. On the inside, the 2023 Hector will be equipped with a new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a range of new connected features. MG will also offer a few autonomous safety features (ADAS) with the updated SUV.
Tata Harrier facelift
The Tata Harrier facelift has been spied on test a couple of times in the past few weeks, suggesting that a launch could take place soon. We expect Tata to take the wraps off the new Harrier at the Auto Expo 2023 first, with a launch scheduled for later.

If the test mules are to be believed, exterior design changes on the 2023 Harrier will be bare minimum. On the inside though, Tata could equip the new SUV with a larger infotainment screen, a revised instrument cluster as well a few additional features. Just like the other SUVs in this list, the Harrier facelift is also expected to be offered with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) tech.
