A joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Mumbai Police conducted raids at four locations in Mumbai and Pune from the beginning Monday and detained four alleged Islamic State supporters. As per sources, the confined people were on central agencies’ radar since mid 2021.
Tabish, a Mumbai-based detainee, is said to have written articles for the IS propaganda magazine “Voice of Hind” and administered the oath of allegiance to another detainee named Amir. Zubair, confined from Pune, was additionally supposedly connected with the ISIS Shimoga module that was busted before.
On Sunday, the NIA had directed strikes at five areas — two in Patna and one in Darbhanga (Bihar) and one each in Surat (Gujarat) and Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) — regarding a body of evidence against the Ghazwa-e-Rear, a radicalized module being controlled by Pakistan-based suspects.
