Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Second Successive Double Hundred, Sarfaraz Khan’s Memorable Debut

Talking about the players’ individual performances, it was a memorable debut for Sarfaraz Khan who scored a half-century in each of his two innings on his debut. He looked set for a hundred before he got run out at the non-strikers end after being sent back by Ravindra Jadeja who had initially called for the run. Yashasvi, meanwhile, scored a double hundred, his second in as many Tests. The left-handed batter even broke the record for the most number of sixes by an Indian in a Test innings and stands tied with Wasim Akram for the all-time record, having hit 12 maximums in his 214*.

Dhruv Jurel fell short of a half-century in the first innings, getting out for 46 but made his presence felt behind the stumps. Jurel showed brilliant bit of glovework to take an awkward throw from Mohammed Siraj and affect the run out of Ben Duckett in the second innings who had pretty much single-handedly taken India’s attack to the cleaners in the first innings. India eventually bowled England out for 122 after giving them a target of 557 to win.
