A 22-year-old man, Ganapathi, who sustained severe burn injuries in a fire that broke out on a boat and a jetty on Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad during the ‘Bharatha Matha Maha Harati’ programme, passed away on Tuesday (January 28, 2025).

Ganapathi, who suffered 100% superficial burn injuries in the incident on Sunday (January 26, 2025) had been receiving treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad. The hospital authorities confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries at 10.05 a.m. on Tuesday. “The cause of death was thermal burns. The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination (PME),” a hospital spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, two other individuals injured in the incident, 20-year-old Sai Chand K and 47-year-old Chintala Krishna, were reported to be in stable condition and undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
