By India Today Web Desk: Former Pakistan captain Sana Mir heaped praise on Nida Dar after her all-round brilliance helped the side beat India in the Women’s Asia Cup match on Friday, October 7.

Nida Dar hit a crucial fifty and backed it with two wickets, guiding Pakistan to secure a T20I win over India for the first time in six years. In a series of tweets, Sana Mir said: “Match against India brings out the best in Nida Dar.”

Mir then lauded Pakistan bowling attack for not offering pace to India batters. The former cricketer further said that Pakistan chose good team and praised the excellent spirit shown by Bismah Maroof-led side.

“This can be a good game if Pak finish strong in last 4. Not too much pace on offer for Indian batters to play with, in this bowling attack.

“Excellent spirit shown by team Pakistan against India. Very good team selection for the conditions, excellent batting by Nida Dar and brilliant team effort in the field. Well done team. One to remember!” Mir said.

Nida’s 56 off 37 lifted Pakistan to 137/6. India bowlers were all over Pakistan before Nida hit her sixth T20I half-century. In reply, India suffered an early collapse with Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues returning to the dugout quite earlier than expected.

The India management then left fans in puzzle by sending Dayalan Hemalatha, Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma ahead of captain Harmanpreet Kaur. The trio not only failed but consumed a lot of balls. Richa Ghosh (26 off 13) gave India some hopes of pulling off the victory before she too fell and India eventually folded.

Harmanpreet rued, saying: “It was a chaseable target. In the middle overs, we were not able to rotate the strike. For me it is important that whoever is new to the side get enough games before the World Cup.”
