According to the report, Pritpal Singh, a coordinator for the American Sikh caucus committee and two other Sikh Americans in California were approached by the FBI following Nijjar’s killing.
The FBI has not commented on the matter yet.
The American Sikhs were reportedly told by the agency that they could be at “imminent risk of assassination”.
It may be noted that the killing of Nijjar, who had been designated as a terrorist by India in 2020, has caused a major diplomatic standoff between India and Canada.
It began following Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau’s allegations over the Indian government’s hand behind Nijjar’s killing.Nijjar was killed in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18.India has rejected Trudeau’s allegations outright. Trudeau, on his part, has not supplied any proof backing his remarks, which India has termed ‘absurd’ and ‘motivated’.
