Pigeon With ‘Threat Note’ To Blow Up Jammu Railway Station Caught At Border

forces
in
Jammu
have
intercepted
a
pigeon
carrying
a
threat
message
to
blow
up
the
city’s
railway
station,
triggering
heightened
security
measures
across
the
region.
The
unusual
incident
occurred
along
the
International
Border
(IB)
in
RS
Pura’s
Katmaria
area
around
9:00
pm
on
August
18,
officials
confirmed.

The
bird
was
found
with
a
chit
tied
to
its
claws,
written
in
both
Urdu
and
English,
warning
of
an
IED
blast
at
Jammu
railway
station.
The
note
carried
provocative
slogans
including
“Kashmir
Freedom” and
“Time
has
come.”

First-of-its-kind
cross-border
scare

Authorities
said
Pakistan
has
previously
used
unconventional
methods-such
as
balloons,
flags,
and
pigeons-to
send
messages
across
the
border.
However,
this
marks
the
first
known
instance
of
a
pigeon
carrying
a
direct
terror
threat
in
the
Jammu
region.

“This
pigeon,
suspected
to
have
crossed
over
from
across
the
border,
carried
a
serious
message
threatening
a
critical
installation.
The
matter
is
being
treated
with
utmost
seriousness,”
a
senior
police
officer
said.

Railway
station
under
heavy
guard

Following
the
recovery
of
the
note,
security
has
been
tightened
across
Jammu,
with
special
focus
on
the
railway
station
and
adjoining
tracks.
Additional
police
units,
sniffer
dogs,
and
bomb
disposal
squads
have
been
deployed
to
ensure
no
immediate
danger.

Investigating
conspiracy
angle

Agencies
are
probing
whether
the
incident
was
an
attempt
at
mischief
designed
to
spread
panic,
or
part
of
a
larger
cross-border
conspiracy.
Intelligence
officials
suspect
the
pigeon
could
have
been
trained
and
deliberately
released
with
the
threatening
chit.

“This
cannot
be
dismissed
casually,”
a
security
expert
warned,
noting
that
such
tactics
are
often
used
to
gauge
alertness
levels
along
sensitive
borders.

Rising
security
concerns

The
rare
case
has
raised
serious
alarm
in
the
region.
Officials
stressed
that
even
unconventional
threats
must
be
addressed
with
caution
given
the
volatile
security
climate
in
Jammu
and
Kashmir.
