    Additional Director General of Police A. Amalraj has been posted as the Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai Police. He replaces Abhin Dinesh Modak, who has been posted as ADGP to the Crime Branch-CID. 

    Dr. Amalraj, one of the seniormost ADGPs in the State, belongs to the 1996-batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS) and earlier served as Commissioner of Police, Tambaram, in two different tenures.

    He has served the Tamil Nadu police in different capacities, including Commissioner of Police in Salem, Coimbatore, and Tiruchi. He headed the Central and West Zones of the State police. 

    In the rank of Superintendent of Police, he has worked in Theni, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, and Salem.

    Dr. Amalraj was awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, Police Medal for Meritorious Service, Chief Minister’s Special Performance Medal, and Chief Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Public Service.
