The BJP staged a demonstration here on January 24, condemning the “unruly behaviour” of Congress legislators during the Governor’s address at the special session of the State Legislature.

The protest came a day after Congress leaders, led by M.K. Somashekar, former MLA, staged a dharna against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for refusing to read out the entire speech prepared by the State government. The protest was staged at the Ramaswamy Circle.

Taking serious exception to the conduct of Congress legislators inside the House, BJP workers and leaders carried placards bearing photographs of some ruling party legislators and raised slogans demanding their suspension. They also insisted that the Congress government apologise to the Governor for allegedly disrespecting him during the session.

The protesters also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, citing what they described as the “failures of the Congress government”.
