The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) surged ahead in Gujarat’s local body elections on Tuesday (April 28, 2026), with early results indicating a commanding lead across civic bodies, prompting Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to call it a resounding mandate for development-oriented governance.
“I am grateful to the people of Gujarat for again supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development-focused politics and delivering a big victory to the BJP,” Mr. Patel said in Gandhi Nagar.
