murder
of
Raja
Raghuvanshi,
allegedly
orchestrated
by
his
wife
Sonam
and
her
boyfriend
Raj
Kushwaha
during
their
honeymoon
in
Meghalaya,
has
captivated
the
nation.
As
per
the
reports,
on
May
23,
Raja
and
Sonam
were
last
seen
leaving
Shipara
Homestay
in
Nongriat
village.
His
body
was
discovered
in
a
gorge
on
June
2.
A
week
later,
Sonam
emerged
in
Uttar
Pradesh
facing
accusations
that
she
and
Raj
hired
three
hitmen-Akash,
Anand,
and
Vikash-to
kill
Raja.
The
police
have
pieced
together
events
to
track
Sonam’s
movements
post-murder.
Operation
Honeymoon:
Tracking
the
Suspects
Meghalaya
police
launched
Operation
Honeymoon
with
a
dedicated
20-member
team
among
120
officers
investigating
the
case.
On
June
7,
they
raided
locations
linked
to
the
suspects
and
scrutinised
profiles
of
the
three
alleged
killers
seen
with
Sonam.
The
investigation
revealed
that
the
couple
purchased
a
machete
near
their
Guwahati
hotel,
likely
used
in
Raja’s
murder.

hitmen
arrived
in
Guwahati
on
May
21
and
followed
the
couple
to
Shillong
by
May
22.
The
murder
is
believed
to
have
occurred
on
May
23
when
the
couple
vanished.
Sources
claim
Sonam
directed
the
hitmen
to
kill
Raja,
with
her
presence
at
the
crime
scene
confirmed
by
witnesses.
Sonam’s
Escape
Plan
After
Raja’s
murder,
all
four
accused
gathered
11
kilometres
from
the
crime
scene
(Raj
did
not
travel
to
Meghalaya).
Sonam
then
travelled
to
Guwahati
before
taking
a
train
home.
She
reached
Indore
on
May
25
and
met
Raj,
who
had
arranged
accommodation
for
her
while
he
stayed
nearby.
They
later
secured
a
car
for
her
journey
to
Uttar
Pradesh.
Sonam
surrendered
in
Ghazipur
late
on
June
8,
reportedly
distressed
and
feverish.
During
their
investigation,
police
found
Akash’s
blood-soaked
shirt
at
the
crime
scene.
Sonam
had
given
him
her
raincoat
found
six
kilometres
away,
suggesting
an
attempt
to
mislead
authorities.
Unusual
Behaviour
Raises
Suspicions
The
investigation
noted
peculiarities
such
as
the
couple
not
sharing
photos
together
or
posting
on
social
media
during
their
trip.
This
raised
suspicions
among
officers
who
believed
something
was
amiss.
On
May
23
at
2:15
pm,
Sonam
allegedly
used
Raja’s
social
media
account
to
post
about
their
union
lasting
seven
lives-a
dramatic
gesture
that
further
convinced
police
of
her
involvement.
The
police
also
reviewed
approximately
42
video
footages
from
Indore
where
the
accused
were
staying.
These
clips
provided
crucial
evidence
linking
them
to
the
crime
scene
and
supporting
witness
testimonies
about
their
movements
after
the
murder.
